Je t’aime

Has anyone ever seen the movie Paris, Je T’aime. According to the trusty IMDB:

Paris, je t’aime (French for “Paris, I love you”) is a 2006 film starring an ensemble cast of actors of various nationalities including American, British and French. The two-hour film consists of eighteen short films set in different arrondissements. (The various neighborhoods in Paris) The 21 directors include Gurinder Chadha, Sylvain Chomet, Joel and Ethan Coen, Gerard Depardieu, Wes Craven, Alfonso Cuarón, Nobuhiro Suwa, Alexander Payne, Tom Tykwer, Walter Salles and Gus Van Sant.

If you haven’t here is one of my favorite clips from it, thanks to the good folks at Youtube:

(I’m including the version with the translation as this movie is originally in French and I know for some this is slightly difficult)

The funny thing to know about this clip is that the woman’s accent in French is HORRIBLE. Like so mad I can not even try to imitate it.

This is hands down one of my favorite movies in the world. I would advise anyone to see it, even if you aren’t that fond of Paris or France or French. The central theme is so moving, and the vignettes really accomplish a unique feel.

This brings me to a movie that was recently released but isn’t on a large national scale yet, New York I love you.

According to IMDB again:

Below is the trailer.

New York I love you is in select theaters RIGHT NOW. I am slightly killing myself slowly by not being able to watch it. So please if you can do yourself a favor and go see it. For me. Eventually it will get to Boulder. Key word being eventually. (and I’m being hopeful)

Airport Romance

I am going to be a complete college girl for a second. First, I am asking you to reach back into your memory and remember a little movie titled Love Actually. In it, there is this scene with all of these people at the airport meeting and greeting each other. After you think about how witty and romantic this movie is, I want you to smile and think of yet another witty and romantic movie, When Harry Met Sally. There is a time when Harry tells Sally that you know you are in a relationships with someone when they can take you to the airport.

I find many things to be very true about When Harry Met Sally, particularly the points that Harry tells Sally about the fact that guys can never be friends with girls. Is it true? I still wonder. I was actually discussing this with one of my friends the other day. Guys seem to have mixed answers to this question. Some say that they have many friends who are girls. Other say that yes they have friends who are girls but the majority when given the chance they would hook up with.

Currently, I am sitting in DIA waiting to fly to Madison Wisconsin for the weekend. Other than observing the fact that Americans really DO like their fast food (The Mcdonalds line was CROWDED). (I opted for a Caribou coffee). I also have come to the realization that I think Airports can be one of the most romantic places. Deep down, I hope to randomly sit next to some guy in an airplane and for us to hit it off and then one thing leads to another and we’re soulmates!

I know this is crazy to admit, but I’m hoping that there is at least one person out there who agrees with me. I feel like so much of who you meet and talk to at an airport is based solely on fate. Granted, you can claim that fate can and should guide all other aspects of our lives, and that I am just as likely to sit next to some cute guy in my class who may then become my soulmate. Still, I can’t let the idea fade that one singly airplane flight and one conversation while in the air flying over the US (or the world rather) takes fate in my eyes to a whole new level.

I also find myself really curious in airports. Currently, I’m trying to eavesdrop on three different conversations right now. I’m sorry if I insult you by telling you this, but I just want to know your life story! Like why are you flying to Milwaukee with me right now? Are you from Wisconsin? Are you from Colorado? Are you on a lay-over? Where did you go to College? What do you do?

Maybe I should become an anthropologist. Just started a conversation with a cute boy sitting across the row from me with a Wisconsin shirt on. Must go, my soulmate awaits me.
